Its been an interesting couple of
months for your new Governor. First
off, I really appreciate the kind words
of support from many of our
members. I’ve got to say, being the
Governor is not what I thought it was
going to be. I hope the rest of the
board members will bear with me as I
try to settle into this new role.
A few good things we have
coming up...the outside seating
should be completed by the time you
read this. We also have a few
events coming up this summer
designed to get us outside and start
enjoying our new feature. So
remember to come down, relax and
enjoy your Moose lodge. Don't
forget to bring a friend or two.
Volunteers, we need more
volunteers!!! Unfortunately this
lodge is run by our members
willingness to help out. This is not
hard, we are not asking for much,
how about just helping out in the
kitchen once a month. Please if you
would like to get involved please ask
one of your board members or
fantastic bar staff. Remember this
lodge exists because we help each
other out. Enjoy the nice weather
and have a great summer.
Damon George
Governor
Hello Moose Members,
Summer is here and so are the outdoor celebrations. July 17th we are
having a Red White & Blue Budweiser Bash in our new outdoor party area. We’ll
be having BBQ and all the fixin’s for dinner. Ice cold Bud at the Tiki Bar, along
with drink specials, door prizes, raffles, and music. Come on down and help us
initiate our new outdoor seating area.
If that’s not enough fun in the sun, our 2nd annual Parking Lot Luau will be
Friday, August 14th. Wear your “Beach Gear”, and prepare to party. We are
having Pulled Pork BBQ for dinner, tropical drinks on special, and of course our
“Hawaiian Punch Spodie”. Prizes awarded for best Luau costumes (individual &
couple). Are you afraid of water? Can you hold your breath? We will be playing
“Bobbin’ for Booze”, along with other silly water games. Join us outside for
dinner, fun, and music.
Congratulations to our own Alyssa Mayclin for graduating LCC...Well done!
Have a safe and happy summer!
See you at the lodge,
Cindy
Hope all the Fathers had a
wonderful Fathers’ Day. Thank you
everyone that helped with the dinner.
The Silent Auction for the outdoor
patio furniture was a great success.
A big ”Thanks!” to everyone that
donated or purchased prizes.
Congratulations to B.J. Mayclin.
He received the 2008 Rueben Ollila
Memorial Award for Outstanding
Volunteer of the Year.
Congratulations, too, to Darlys
Provolt. She received the 2008
Karen Falk Memorial Award for
Outstanding Volunteer of the Year.
These two people are the stalwarts
of the volunteers and it is wonderful
to see your work recognized.
We are looking for volunteers to
help at the Moose concession stand
during the Unique Tin Car Show
August 22nd. Please ask the
barmaid for more information. This is
a really fun event and I hope that we
have good participation.
Men and women come join us
Monday and the first Tuesday of
each month for Texas Hold’em .
Mondays are Live Poker, $5 buy-in.
2nd Tuesdays are Tournament
Poker, $35 buy-in. All Moose
members are welcome.
Everyone is busy during the
Summer months but remember to
come see all your friends and enjoy
the new outside patio, opening soon.

Hey you Mooses! Summer is here! Actually the weather arrived before the season this year... which ain’t at all like Washington. But I don’t think anyone is gonna complain! Hopefully the nice weather will stay with us, because we need to be able to try out our new addition. That’s right, we’ve been thinking “outside the lodge”, and decided that it was time to do more than just string some rubber fence once a year. Thanks to the hard work and generosity of many or our members, we now can enjoy a frosty beverage outside. There was a huge amount of enthusiasm and support for this project...as well as a few unknown hoops we had to jump through. But the fence is installed and the furniture is in. Thanks again to those who donated time, or money, or both to get this done. Come and try it out. Summer is also, probably the most difficult time of the year for the lodge financially. Attendance is usually low, and events are sparse. We do have the A/C running though, and the beer is cold, so if you’re feeling a little over heated from all that yard work, come down and cool off. We might even put a little umbrella in your drink! We do have a few events this summer that you won’t want to miss. Two outdoor parties that ought to be a lot of fun. And let’s not forget the golf tournament in September. Space is limited on that one, so get your teams together and get those apps in early. It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to one of our long time members, and someone I considered to be a close friend. Sonja Vineyard is gone, but her memory will be with our lodge forever. One of our core group of volunteers, Sonja has helped out in just about every volunteer position in the lodge. I will miss her, as I’m sure will everyone at Cowlitz Valley Moose. See you here, BJ
